QWO is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is proven to be effective for moderate to severe cellulite.

A series of three QWO injectable treatments that take place every three weeks is the solution to your dimpled buttocks.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a common, yet harmless skin condition that causes dimpled and lumpy skin on the buttocks,  thighs, abdomen, and other areas of the body.  Skin that is affected by cellulite appears bumpy, and sometimes it is compared in appearance to cottage cheese, a golf ball, or an orange peel. Mild cellulite can be seen by pinching the skin at the area with cellulite, while severe cellulite makes the skin appear bumpy, dimpled, and lumpy.  The common areas are buttocks and thighs; however, it can also be present on the breasts, upper arms, and lower abdomen.  While it primarily affects women, a few men may experience cellulite as well.

What Are Biological Factors Causing Cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by the thickening and hardening of fibrous bands under the skin. The tension caused by the thickening of these fibrous bands pulls the skin downward leading to the appearance of dimples and divots over the skin surface. There are twenty-eight different types of collagen, however the majority of the types of collagen in the body are types I, II, and III.  Types I and III collagen hold an integral role in the health of the skin.  The production of collagen diminishes as we age and this degradation leads to the fibrous bands underneath the skin and contribute to cellulite. Thickened fibrous bands are permanent, and these can only be reduced by cutting or interrupting them through some type of medication.

Skin laxity is also a significant contributing factor for cellulite. The presence of cellulite is directly related to skin elasticity; as skin elasticity declines, the skin will be more prone to develop cellulite. Age, race, genetics, hormonal changes, weight loss, amount of collagen levels, and poor nutrition can impact skin elasticity and may lead to the development of cellulite.

Maryland Cellulite CenterThe third and most factor contributing to cellulite is excess fat int he bodyThese fats are more prevalent in women than in men due to estrogen and collagen is more dense in men due to testosterone.  An uneven skin surface is created as large fat cells push upward towards the skin’s surface while the thickened fibrous bands pull downward creating this undesirable, uneven appearance.

In addition to the biological factors and anatomy that present cellulite formation, lifestyle is also one of the factors that aid in cellulite production. Weight gain, lack of exercise, and unhealthy diet may impact the appearance of cellulite in women and around the thighs; however, nine out of ten women experience cellulite regardless of age, size, race, and lifestyle.

Cellulite doesn’t discriminate between age, color, size, and shape. The appearance of cellulite is the most common problem in women, and it starts developing right after puberty due to the first surge of estrogen. The mechanism behind this is, thickening of fibrous bands, thinning and losing skin and fat cells that become more prominent.

What Are Cellulite Treatments?

Various non-medical treatments are available to treat the epidermis, or outermost layer of the skin.  Yet, these treatments provide temporary and minor improvement and may include dry brushing, scrubs, lotions, and creams. The most effective treatment that has been explored for permanent cellulite reduction is QWO Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum injections.

QWO Cellulite Treatment – Vitality Aesthetics

QWO, also known as Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum,QWO Before After is the first and only FDA-approved injectable medication that has surprisingly provided the solution to correct the development of cellulite in the buttocks and areas around the thighs. QWO works by addressing the fibrous bands under the skin that contribute to the dimpling of the skin. How to Prepare for QWO Cellulite Treatment?

QWO cellulite treatment is a quick, comfortable procedure that doesn’t require any downtime. After an initial consultation with the team at

Vitality Aesthetics, the treatment area will be cleaned and marked.  You will lye flat on the treatment table with your muscles relaxed while your provider will mark each cellulite dimple to be treated with using a surgical marker. Topical anesthetic is not needed for this procedure. You will then receive  the first of three injections that are spaced 21 days apart.  QWO is injected into each circled cellulite dimple while the you are lying face down on the table. The treatment is limited to twelve injections per buttock and twelve to twenty-four injections per visit. The entire injection procedure takes about ten minutes to complete; you will be required to remain lying face down on the table for an additional five minutes after the injections are completed.  The entire cellulite treatment takes place during three visits every 21 days, and results are evident 28 days after the third appointment.  You will begin to notice changes with your first treatment and will see a marked difference in the appearance of your buttocks 90 days after your first appointment.

Is There QWO Cellulite Injections Recovery Time?

You may feel some soreness right after the procedure, but it will resolve in just a few days. While you may return to your normal activities, we suggest that you do not engage yourself in vigorous exercises involving the lower half of your body a few hours after your injections.

What are the Risks and Complications of QWO Cellulite Treatment?

Mild risks that may be associated with the treatment may include soreness, bruising, itching, and redness.  Your provider will review contraindications, risks, and post-care instructions prior to the treatment.  Most patients feel that the injections are very tolerable and that their routine activities are not affected by the treatment.
